Comparative biomechanical study between minimally invasive popliteus and LCL reconstruction versus laprade technique: A cadaveric study evaluated by versus stress radiographs.

The objective of this study is to present and evaluate a new minimally-invasive PLC reconstruction technique. In this study, the outcome of the new technique will be compared with outcomes from previous methods by LaPrade. The stability and biomechanics of cadaveric knees that underwent the new technique will be evaluated by measuring the lateral opening gap in varus stress radiographs. The hypothesis made beforehand is that the biomechanics achieved in the new technique would not be statistically different from LaPrade’s method. Biomechanically, minimally invasive popliteus and LCL reconstruction is equivalent to LaPrade’s technique in restoring the stability of knees in case of grade III PLC injury. Additionally, this technique is less invasive than all traditional open technique of PLC reconstruction. The minimally invasive popliteus and LCL reconstruction technique may be a treatment option for grade III PLC injury.
