Optimized gastroretentive pulsatile drug delivery system of propranolol hydrochloride using full factorial design.

Purpose of this research was to optimize compression coated gastroretentive pulsatile release tablet of propranolol hydrochloride for chronotherapy of hypertension. The tablets were prepared using hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose K100 M and carbopol 934 P as matrix forming polymers and polyvinyl pyrrolidone K30 as channeling agent. Prepared tablets were evaluated for floating lag time, total floating time and lag time before drug release. Optimization of formulation was done by using 32 full factorial designs.
